Privacy & Location
How Location Privacy Works
Ohtli takes your location privacy seriously. When you add a location to an entity or a fulfillment method, you control who sees your exact address.
By default, your exact location is hidden from the public. Instead, we show an approximate area by randomly offsetting your pin by a small distance (roughly 0.25 to 2.5 km). Visitors can see your general neighborhood or region without knowing your exact address.
You can turn this off at any time by unchecking "Hide my exact location until after purchase" — useful if you're a business, nursery, or farm that wants customers to find you.
Entity Locations
When you set a location on an entity (a plant, tree, etc.), the privacy setting is on by default. The public entity page shows the approximate area on the map.
Other growers can see roughly where your entity is — helpful for understanding climate zones and growing conditions — without seeing your home address.
Seller Locations
Local Pickup — When you create a pickup fulfillment method, the location is hidden by default. Buyers see the general area so they can decide if it's convenient, but your exact address is only revealed after they complete a purchase.
If you're a business or farm that wants to be publicly visible, uncheck the privacy option and your pin will show your exact location to all visitors.
Local Delivery — Your delivery center point is used to calculate whether a buyer is within your delivery radius. Your exact address is never shown to the buyer — they only see whether they're in range.
Shipping — Only your origin zip code is stored (for shipping rate calculations). Your address is never displayed.
