Selling on Ohtli

Any Ohtli user can list organisms and products for sale. To get started, navigate to the Listing section in your dashboard sidebar.

If you want to charge for your listings, you need to set up a Stripe account first. Go to Listing > Settings and click "Set Up Stripe Account." This creates a free Stripe Express account where your earnings are deposited. Stripe handles all payment processing.

Free listings (price of $0) work without Stripe setup. This is useful for giving away seeds, cuttings, or other material to the community.

Before creating listings, set up at least one fulfillment method under Listing > Fulfillment Methods. Fulfillment methods define how you get items to buyers.

Shipping — Ship via carrier (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.). Set your origin ZIP code, a flat shipping cost, optional per-pound pricing, and estimated delivery days.

Local Pickup — Buyers pick up from your location. Set the pickup address, optional instructions, and whether your exact location is private until after purchase.

Local Delivery — You deliver within a set radius. Set a center point on the map, a delivery radius in miles, and your delivery fee.

You can create multiple fulfillment methods and mark one as the default. When creating listings, you select which methods apply to each listing.

Navigate to Listing > Listings and click to create a new listing. Each listing is tied to one of your registered entities.

Choose a listing type that describes what you are selling. Types are grouped by their genetic implications:

New genetics — Child Plant (a living plant grown from seed), Cross Pollinated Seeds, or Pollen. These create new genetic material.

Same genetics — Self Pollinated Seeds, Self Pollinated Plant, or Clone (cuttings, scion wood, bulbs, divisions). These preserve the parent's genetics.

Products — Fruit/Produce or Other Goods (dried herbs, preserves, honey). These are consumable products, not breeding material.

Fill in the listing details: title, description, unit quantity and name (e.g., "10 seeds"), price, and quantity available. Select which fulfillment methods apply to this listing.

You can also configure seasonality (always available or seasonal with start/end dates) and preorder settings (whether buyers can order before items are ready, with estimated prep time).

When a buyer purchases your listing, the order appears on your Listing > Orders page. Orders that need your attention are highlighted with a colored accent.

For each order, you will see the order number, status, buyer email, line items with quantities and prices, fulfillment method, and shipping address if applicable.

Fulfilling orders: Click into an order to take the next fulfillment action. For porch pickup, mark the order as "Ready for Pickup" and then "Picked Up" when the buyer collects it. For shipping, enter the carrier and tracking number. For local delivery, mark it as "Out for Delivery" and then "Delivered."

Both you and the buyer receive email notifications at each step. You can also communicate directly with the buyer through the order's message thread.
